Reinhart Trucking provides a host of services to Alberta and Saskatchewan's Oil and Gas industry. Comprised of a mixed fleet of service units including long and short‐haul tractors, trailers, 3‐14 tonne picker trucks, bed trucks, winch tractors and various 1‐tonnes, Reinhart provides Rig Moving, Pipe Hauling, Picker and Hot Shot services throughout the midwest. Looking to get a better overview over their entire fleet, minimize downtime and save maintenance costs, company managers began looking for a solution that would fit their demands as a leading oilfiled services provider.

Scenario: Untimely breakdowns were causing disruptive downtime periods; disorganized inventory made sourcing and purchasing cumbersome and innaccurate; paper-based logs were rarely used properly and error prone.

Solution: Reinhart moved from a manual, paper-based system to a computerized solution incorporating Scheduling for preventative Maintenance, Inventory Control for stock levels (in-house and on trucks) and Bill of Lading generation for Job File Mgmt.

Outcomes: Accurate Stock levels and regular maintenance scheduling ensured that equipment remained operable at key times, and serviced at slower times. Reporting showed that Reinhart had units working in Billable hours 17% more of the time than they had the previous year.

Future: In 2012, Reinhart and PointyHat plan to engage in an Accounting Integration Phase as well as Mobile Timesheet for logging man and service unit hours from the field.

Phoenix Restorations, Coquitlam, BC - Bruce M., COO "Nobody at the company could imagine going back to the way we used to work."

Phoenix Restorations is an industry leading restoration company capable of restoring properties back to their pre-loss condition after sustaining any level of wind, water, fire or vandalism damage. With more than 40,000 square feet of warehouse facilities, state-of-the-art cleaning equipment and I.I.C.R.C trained employees, Phoenix required a custom ERP to manage these resources effectively and efficiently.

Scenario: Heavily reliant on Excel, Word and Accounting software, Phoenix envisioned a world where information could be tracked on a project by project basis and readily available via reporting services to anyone over the Internet. Lack of Reporting capabilities and costing accuracy were two significant areas where improvements were required.

Solution: A robust, Enterprise Resource Planner was developed to manage the lifecycle of a Phoenix Claim, its Managers Portfolios, Project Costs, Resource allocation and ultimately Accounts Receivable and Payable with integration into Sage's Simply Accounting.

Outcomes: Powerful Reporting gives company executives insight into their most effective processes and most profitable project types. Company-wide communication surrounding any and all matters of a project are coordinated seamlessly through this application and system generated notifications ensure that best practices and project rules are adhered to.

Future: In the fall of 2011, Phoenix and PointyHat intend on extending Firestorm's communication capabilities and developing a mobile timesheet application.

Scriptivate, Vancouver, BC - Lionel J., Founder "PointyHat's continued commitment to this project is outstanding."

Project: Scriptivate & William On Web

Scriptivate is a privately funded development with accreditation of the Scientific Research & Experimental Development program (SR&ED). PointyHat was chosen to develop this comprehensive application for the Theatre industry which is used to perform extensive analysis of casting conflicts, scheduling, budgets and script creation.

The system is capable of accommodating the collaborative efforts of writing as well. Scriptivate's customized, online word processor acts not only as a creation tool, but also as a dynamic database. This unique database is query-able to the character allowing for limitless analysis and reporting.

Scenario: Reaching the limits of Excel, Scriptivate chose to migrate itself to not only a more powerful database and interface, but the web as well. Taking all efforts of a Theatrical Production into consideration, Scriptivate would need to accommodate a rich set of functionality and a custom permissions schema to allow for unique use of that functionality.

Solution: PointyHat first developed an online word processor, an editor to allow for collaborative script writing and editing by writers. User's were in fact writing into a database for the importance of analysis and mark-up. Additionally, Scriptivate started to accommodate both the annotation of a script, including Cues, Images and Video and the distribution of these annotations to other production team members.

Outcomes: Scriptivate Productions are privy to a variety of collaborative tools and rich functionality that streamlines the entire production of a Play and also offers a sense of transparency and accountability to its key role players. Scriptivate feature set accommodates script creation, pre-production planning, actor/team member placements, rehearsals, and live production monitoring.

Future: PointyHat and Scriptivate will be developing a Scheduling and Budgeting component for this rich suite of Theatre Production tools in the winter of 2011-2012

Tradeline Electronics, Vancouver, BC - Jeff S., CEO "Archimedes was the first of it's kind and continues to outperform the competition."

Tradeline Electronics Marketing is a leader in supply chain & technical service within the North American Electronics industry. Leaders in both pricing and sourcing, Tradeline continues to provide device manufacturers and distributors with a comprehensive list of electronic components.

Scenario: In a world of emerging markets and global economics, Tradeline found themselves competitively positioned to provide international product sourcing within the Canadian Electronics Marketplace. With the right data aggregation and presentation, a world of components could be viewed, priced and sourced through that marketplace. PointyHat would be selected to develop Archimedes, the aforementioned marketplace.

Solution: Firsty, PointyHat developed a multi-threaded parser to track incoming RFQs (Request for Quote) from various sources, including email and web requests. All inbound RFQs were then sourced against in-house inventory and externally through the worldwide market using a variety of XML web services, and HTML screen-scraping techniques. Stock could then be verified through an automated communication process with vendors and ultimately provide the transaction of the purchase.

Outcomes: Tradeline's now accounts for 15% of all transactions of electronic components in Canada and continues to make technoligical strides in data aggregation and structuring.

Future: PointyHat continues to work with Tradeline to ever expand its product sourcing through our advanced parsing technologies.
